Natural gas, gasoline, oil and coal are all fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels are formed over millions of years from decomposition of living matter such as plants and animals.

Natural gas is commonly used in homes for heating, cooking, water heating and fireplaces.
Natural gas is odorless and colorless therefore we add mercaptan, or “rotten-egg” smell so people can detect possible leakage.
A blue flame indicates a complete gas/oxygen mixture during combustion.
During complete combustion, only carbon dioxide, essential for plant life, and water are produced as byproducts.
Natural gas is transported in underground pipelines.
Over one million miles of natural gas pipelines service
the United States.
The leading cause of accidents involving pipelines is
damage from excavation near existing pipelines.
Pipeline markers identify the approximate location of
these pipelines.
Ohio law requires anyone who is performing any type of
digging must call 811 or 800-362-2764 (O.U.P.S.) 48
hours prior digging, excluding weekends and legal
holidays.
